HMCS TRAINING STANDARDS
The Hellenic Mountaineering & Climbing School is an indepentent school, which provides a flexible and open to all, training system for the activities of mountaineering and climbing, from the level of the amateur hobbist to the professional instructor.
Depending on the type of activity, the education system of the Hellenic Mountaineering & Climbing School, is divided into two sectors: a) mountaineering education and b) climbing education. Each sector includes eight (8) different training levels of escalating difficulty, covering the entire spectrum of mountaineering and climbing training, from beginner to instructor level.
For the sake of brevity and easier understanding, in addition to the title, each level has also been given a code name, consisting of two Latin letters and a number. For mountaineering training, the code begins with the letters “ML” from the initials of the words “Mountaineer Level” (e.g. ML-1), while for climbing training, the code begins with the letters “CL” from the initials of words “Climber Level” (e.g. CL-1).
The first four levels (ML1-ML4 & CL1-CL4) are of an amateur nature while the second four (ML5-ML8 & CL5-CL8) are intended for professionals.
